A large protest was held in London city recently against China’s planned “mega-embassy” at the former Royal Mint Court, media reports said.

The protesters were seen holding placards, protesters and flags during the demonstration.

The protesters represented Tibetan, Uyghur, Chinese and Hong Kong rights groups.

Organizers told Radio Free Asia around 4,000 people joined the protest at the proposed site of the embassy.

According to reports, the planned embassy is expected to be  10 times the size of a regular embassy.

The protesters were seen waving placards that read: “UK Government, don’t reward repression. Say no to China’s super embassy”.

Two people were arrested on suspicion of breaching Section 14 conditions, which require that protesters stay within a designated area and later released, Tower Hamlets Police  was quoted as saying by RFA.

No counter rallies were held.
