Russia has reiterated its support for New Delhi’s bid for a permanent seat on the UN Security Council and expressed optimism that the partnership between the two countries will continue to grow in the years ahead. In a message shared on Telegram on the 78th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, the Russian Foreign Ministry congratulated India on the occasion. Moscow has expressed confidence in the rapid and consistent development of its friendly relations and expansion of ties with India and  further reaffirmed its commitment to deepening its strategic partnership with India.

Highlighting the long-standing and trusted nature of the relationship, the Russian Ministry emphasized the high level of mutual trust, respect for national interests, and shared views on global and regional issues. It noted that political dialogue between the two nations remains strong, with regular high-level meetings, including two summits between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2024.

Russia also recognized the steady growth in trade, which reached over 60 billion US dollar this year, and underscored nuclear energy, particularly the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant project, as a key area of cooperation. It added that both countries continue to collaborate in areas such as defense, space, technology, and cultural exchange, while jointly advocating for a multipolar world order and greater representation of the Global South in global governance.
