Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists Hafiz Muhammed Jameel and Mohammad Yusuf Azhar – both brothers of UN-designated terrorist Masood Azhar – were among those killed in the May 7 Operation Sindoor attack by the Indian military, the government said on Saturday, according to sources.

The Indian armed forces had carried out precision strikes on 21 terror camps across 9 targets on the night of May 7 in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack that took place on April 22.

The government has released the list of terrorists whose killing was confirmed in the attack that was carried out without crossing the Line of Control.

Mudassar Khadian Khas alias Mudassar alias Abu Jundal: The Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist was In-charge of Markaz Taiba, Muridke in Pakistan’s Punjab province.

After he was killed, he received a guard of honour at his funeral by the Pakistani army, the pictures of which came to the fore. Wreaths were also laid on behalf of the Pakistan army chief, Asim Munir, and Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz. His funeral prayer was held in a government school, led by Hafiz Abdul Rauf of JuD, a designated global terrorist.

A serving Lt. General of the Pakistan army and the IG of Punjab Police attended the prayer ceremony.

Hafiz Muhammed Jameel: He was the eldest brother-in-law of JeM founder Masood Azhar. He was In-charge of Markaz Subhan Allah, Bahawalpur. He was actively involved in the radical indoctrination of youth and fundraising for JeM.

Mohammad Yusuf Azhar alias Ustad Ji alias Mohd Salim alias Ghosi Sahab: He was another brother-in-law of Masood Azhar and was affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammed. He handled weapons training for JeM and was involved in various terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir. He was wanted in the Indian airlines IC-814 hijacking case.

Khalid alias Abu Akasha: He was linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba and was involved in multiple terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir. His role in Lashkar was to smuggle weapons from Afghanistan. His funeral, held in Faisalabad, was also attended by senior Pakistani Army officials and the Deputy Commissioner of Faisalabad.

Mohammad Hassan Khan: He was affiliated to Jaish-e-Mohammed and was the son of Mufti Asghar Khan Kashmiri, an operational commander of JeM in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

He played a significant role in coordinating terrorist attacks in J&K.

Aftermath of May 7 Operation Sindoor

Soon after the Indian retaliation, Pakistan escalated the situation and attacked India with drones along the International Border and Line of Control for three consecutive nights. Most of their drones and missiles were taken down before they could strike their intended targets.

India struck its targets in Islamabad, Lahore, and Sialkot in response to the Pakistani escalation.

Pakistan stepped up the escalation ladder night after night and fired six ballistic missiles at India on Friday night, all of which were shot down by the robust Indian air defence systems. India retaliated with strikes against 8 Pakistani military bases, including Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi, Rafiqi Airbase in Punjab’s Shorkot, and Murid Airbase in Punjab’s Chakwal.
