Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan has stated that the world today is looking at India not only as a destination, but as a knowledge partner. Addressing the LOI (Letter of Intent) Granting Ceremony of five foreign universities to establish campuses in Maharashtra, held today in Mumbai, he hailed the event as a milestone in the journey of Viksit Bharat and emphasised that education will ensure a secure future for the country. He asserted that Maharashtra has long been a leader in enterprise and knowledge, and will now emerge as a leader in the education sector as well.

 

During the programme, the University of Aberdeen (UK), University of York (UK), University of Western Australia (Australia), Illinois Tech (USA), and IED School of Design (Italy) were granted Letters of Intent to establish their campuses in the state of Maharashtra.

 

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, British High Commissioner to India Lindy Cameron, Consul General of Australia in Mumbai Paul Murphy, Consul General of the United States in Mumbai Mike Hankey, Consul General of Italy in Mumbai Walter Ferrara, representatives of all five universities, officials from CIDCO and the University Grants Commission (UGC), and several other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
