India to Integrate Road Safety Lessons into School and College Curriculum

Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that educating students in regional languages on road safety is a key step towards nurturing responsible citizens. Addressing the 7th edition of FICCI Road Safety Awards and Symposium 2025 in New Delhi, Mr Gadkari said, his Ministry is collaborating with the Education Ministry to integrate road safety lessons into school and college curricula across all regional languages.

He emphasized the importance of collective responsibility and active public participation to bring down the number of road accidents. The Minister pointed out that 66 per cent of road accident fatalities in the country involve individuals aged 18 to 45 years. He said, government has implemented sleep and fatigue detection devices to prevent accidents caused by driver fatigue and drowsiness.
