The nation is observing 60 years of the 1965 India-Pakistan War this month by remembering the sacrifices and acts of courage of those who took part in the fierce battles. To honour the bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty and ensured that India emerged victorious in a test of strength, the government is organising a series of events. In line with this, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today interacted with veterans and families of war heroes in New Delhi to commemorate India’s victory over Pakistan 60 years ago. Addressing the event, Mr. Singh said that every Indian soldier serves with the conviction that the sovereignty and integrity of the nation will never be compromised at any cost.
1965 India-Pakistan War stands as a defining chapter in the history of India’s armed forces. Spanning 22 intense days, the war was marked by fierce tank and infantry battles across the Western Front. The skies roared with fighter jets, while on the ground, Indian forces fought bravely across rugged terrains and hostile borders. From the icy heights of Jammu and Kashmir, through the fertile plains of Punjab, to the desert expanses of Rajasthan, Indian soldiers displayed unmatched courage and resilience, making substantial territorial gains and inflicting significant losses on the enemy. Speaking exclusively to Akashvani News, war veterans who took part in this fierce battle shared their experiences and urged the youth to serve the nation by joining the Defence Forces.
