Northern Railway is running one thousand extra special trains during the Diwali and chhath festival this year to cater the festive season demand. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, General Manager of Northern Railway Ashok Kumar Verma said that more than four thousand 700 trips of special trains are currently operational as compared to three thousand 800 trains last year.
Mr Verma said that two lakh 70 thousand seats have been created in the general train through coach augmentation. He said that a dedicated control room has been established to manage operation efficiently, ensuring round the clock monitoring. Mr Verma informed that additional two thousand one hundred Railway Protection Force, RPF staff will be deployed for security and crowd management at all major stations in Delhi.
He said that the parcel office will remain closed for the next ten days and platform tickets have been suspended till 28th of this month.
