Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal said that urbanisation is the pathway to Viksit Bharat and emphasised that India’s urban transformation must be citizen-centric, inclusive and sustainable.
The Minister said this while speaking at the inaugural session of the National Urban Conclave 2025, which began in New Delhi today. Mr Manohar Lal highlighted that urban investments have increased rapidly over the last decade, reflecting the government’s commitment to creating Clean Cities, Healthy Cities and Prosperous Cities.
During the event, the Minister launched a series of key initiatives, including the AMRUT Anthem – Jal Hi Jeevan, the Dump-site Remediation Accelerator Programme and the Knowledge Management Unit (KMU) established at the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) to strengthen capacity-building for States and Urban Local Bodies. He also unveiled the Urban Invest Window, a new platform designed to facilitate investment in urban infrastructure projects.
