The Eastern Air Command of the Indian Air Force organised the first-ever full-scale air show in Guwahati to mark the 93rd anniversary celebrations. The IAF displayed over 75 planes and helicopters in more than 25 formations at Lachit Ghat above the Brahmaputra River.
This year’s Air Force Day celebrations revolve around the theme “Infallible, Impervious and Precise”, symbolising the IAF’s focus on operational capability, resilience, and precision. Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh were present on the occasion.
Our correspondent reports that the first-ever air show in the northeastern region thrilled spectators over the banks of the mighty Brahmaputra. The flying machines — including Rafale, Sukhoi, Apache, MiG, IL-78 refueler, Mirage, Jaguar, C-17 Globemaster, Advanced Light Helicopter MK1, C-130 Hercules, Antonov AN-32, and Surya Kiran — operated from seven air bases in the region: Guwahati, Tezpur, Jorhat, Chabua, Hasimara, Bagdogra, and Panagarh.
The air show also paid homage to Assam’s beloved singer Zubeen Garg, featuring his popular song “Mayabini Ratir Bukut.”
