The government in partnership with the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA), is organizing the second edition of the annual Capacity Building Programme. The Ministry of External Affairs, in a statement said that the event starts today on the UN Security Council Resolution 1540 and Strategic Trade Controls for Asia-Pacific and African countries in Palasamudram, Andhra Pradesh till 13th of this month. The Programme is being organized under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) framework.
It added 23 Government experts from 9 countries, including Brunei Darussalam, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Mauritius, Mongolia, Namibia, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Vietnam, are participating in the programme. India’s Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, National Authority Chemical Weapons Convention; and others, will be sharing their implementation experiences and best practices on relevant aspects of the UNSC Resolution and Strategic Trade Controls. The Ministry said that this annual flagship ITEC programme is a reaffirmation of the country’s robust credentials on non-proliferation, and further demonstration of India’s contribution to the global non-proliferation architecture.
