US President Donald Trump has suggested a friendly takeover of Cuba, amid a fuel blockade by the United States. Speaking to reporters outside the White House, Trump said that the United States could take over Cuba, but on amicable terms. He said, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is in discussions with Cuban leaders at a very high level. The US President said that Cuba is in serious economic trouble as the Trump administration is intensifying pressure on Havana’s communist government through a strict fuel blockade. Trump signed an executive order at the end of January imposing a fuel blockade on the island. It is aimed at weakening the Cuban government, which depends heavily on imported energy and food. Trump did not clarify his comments but seemed to indicate that the situation with Cuba is coming to a critical point. Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel stated that his country is open to dialogue with the United States on any issue but firmly rejected talks under duress.
