In a major breakthrough, Amritsar Rural Police have uncovered a Pakistan-linked terror module in connection with the grenade attack on Bhindi Saida police station, arresting six accused and recovering weapons during the operation.
The crackdown was carried out under the Punjab Police’s “War Against Gangster” campaign, with support from Faridkot Police. According to investigators, the network was allegedly being operated with the backing of Pakistan-based handlers and assistance from the Inter-Services Intelligence.
Police said the accused had been radicalised and recruited through financial inducements and extremist influence. Prior to the attack, they had reportedly conducted reconnaissance of multiple police stations before targeting Bhindi Saida.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Baljit Singh, Prabh Singh, Rajvir Singh, Sahil Singh, Sukhdeep Singh, and Ajaydeep Singh. Authorities have seized two pistols along with other crucial evidence from their possession.
Officials added that preliminary investigations suggest the accused may have links to other criminal activities as well. A case has been registered under multiple sections, including the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Arms Act.
Senior police officials stated that the swift action helped foil a larger conspiracy, ensuring the safety of both police establishments and the general public. Investigations are ongoing to identify other members of the network and determine its full extent.
Police have also indicated that further arrests are likely as the probe deepens, reiterating their commitment to cracking down on terrorism and organised crime in the state.
