Recent Operational Highlights
  • Massive Surges: Taiwan has tracked up to 59 sorties of Chinese military aircraft and 9 naval ships operating around the island in a single 24-hour period.
  • ADIZ Incursions: The vast majority of these tracked aircraft routinely cross the historical median line of the Taiwan Strait and enter Taiwan’s northern, central, and southwestern ADIZ.
  • Naval Activity: Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) vessels and official coast guard ships continue to encircle the island, conducting routine “combat readiness patrols”.
Geopolitical Context
The surge in activity coincides with ongoing tensions over Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te’s administration and growing international backing. Recently, G7 leaders issued joint statements opposing any unilateral attempts to alter the status quo across the Taiwan Strait by force or coercion
