Chief of the Army Staff, General Dhiraj Seth, is on an official visit to Russia from today till the 18th of September. During his three-day visit, General Seth will hold discussions with the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Land Forces, Colonel General Andrei Nikolayevich Mordvichev, on issues of mutual interest, including professional military cooperation and training.
He will receive a ceremonial Guard of Honour and pay tribute to fallen soldiers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow.
The Ministry of Defence said that the Chief of the Army Staff will also visit the National Defence Control Centre in Moscow and interact with senior officials of the Russian Ministry of Defence, including Deputy Minister of Defence Sergeyevich Osmakov, who deals with defence industry and procurement.
The Ministry said these engagements will provide an opportunity to exchange views on contemporary military developments and explore avenues to further enhance defence cooperation. It said the visit aims to further strengthen the longstanding defence partnership and military-to-military cooperation between India and Russia.
