Indian Naval Ship Tarkash, a frontline stealth frigate, has reached Mombasa, Kenya, on 29th of last month for a goodwill port call as part of her deployment. The Ministry of Defence said the visit underscores the longstanding and multifaceted relationship between India and Kenya, which are two maritime nations connected by historical, cultural and people-to-people ties.
The Ministry added that during the port call, personnel of the Indian and Kenya Navies will participate in a range of professional and social engagements, including interaction, cross-learning and cultural exchange. It added that these activities will provide opportunities to share experiences and enhance interoperability.
The Defence Ministry further underlined that the port call reflects India’s commitment to maritime partnerships with friendly countries in the Indian Ocean Region and is in keeping with the spirit of MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions).
