In Punjab, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi visited Headquarters Vajra Corps in Jalandhar yesterday to assess the current operational preparedness of the formation. He was briefed by the General Officer Commanding the Vajra Corps on the prevailing security situation and operational dynamics along the Western Front. His visit to this one of the striking corps of the Army was a part of his ongoing visit to the Western Command. Stressing upon the importance of adapting to the evolving dynamics along the Western Front, the Army Chief commended all ranks for their unwavering commitment, operational readiness and professionalism.

General Dwivedi also interacted with veterans and felicitated four distinguished ex-servicemen, including a 1971 war veteran with the ‘Veteran Achievers Award’ for their outstanding contributions to society, youth empowerment and Nation Building. These ex-servicemen include Colonel Jagdeep Singh – a wheelchair-bound battle casualty, Commander Gurcharan Singh – a 1971 war veteran, Honorary Captain Gurmail Singh and Havildar Simranjeet Singh. Earlier, in the day, the Chief of Army Staff paid obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) in Amritsar along with his wife Sunita Dwivedi and other family members.
