In response to heightened tensions in conflict-affected areas in West Asia, two thousand 295 Indian nationals have now been brought home from Iran under Operation Sindhu. Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, 292 Indian nationals arrived in New Delhi from Iran’s Mashhad on a special flight in the wee hours today.
The Indian Air Force has stated that it remains committed as a first responder to assisting both within the country and across the globe in times of need. The IAF has commenced missions from Jordan and Egypt to evacuate Indian nationals and citizens of friendly countries.
An Indian Air Force C-17 flight evacuated 165 Indian nationals from Israel under Operation Sindhu. The aircraft came from Amman to New Delhi this morning. The evacuees were received by Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs Dr L Murugan upon their arrival in the national capital.
Talking to the media, Mr Murugan said, the passengers belong to 22 different states and they are all very happy to be back in the country. He said the Government’s priority is to evacuate its citizens.
Another batch of 161 Indian nationals from Israel also reached New Delhi today. They arrived in the national capital this morning from Amman. At the airport, Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita received them.
Speaking to the media, Mr Margherita said, the Government is in constant contact with Indian nationals in Iran and Israel, and it remains committed to providing all assistance and support to Indian nationals in both countries.
India is also assisting friendly countries like Sri Lanka in the evacuation of their citizens.
