Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla welcomed a Parliamentary Delegation from Cyprus, led by President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus Annita Demetriou to Parliament. In a social media post, the Speaker said that the visit will further strengthen sustained dialogue, collaboration and elevate India-Cyprus ties to greater heights. Mr Birla also spoke on how the use of Artificial Intelligence and the Digital Sansad platform are enhancing transparency, efficiency, and multilingual accessibility in parliamentary functioning.
They discussed shared democratic values and the renewed momentum added to multi-sectoral cooperation following the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Cyprus in June this year. The delegation appreciated the architectural brilliance, advanced technological features, and the rich civilizational heritage embodied in India’s new Parliament House.
The delegation also highlighted India’s zero-tolerance approach to terrorism and shared commitment to addressing global challenges, including climate change.
