In the Asian Games 2026, India’s campaign continues strongly on Day 2 in Japan today. Indian shooters secured 2 Silver medals in Nagoya today. India’s Elavenil Valarivan clinched a silver medal in the women’s 10 metre air rifle event at the Games. The 2025 World Championship bronze medallist Elavenil shot 252.4 points in the final to finish behind Japan’s Hinata Taichi, who won gold with a record 253 points.
Earlier, India has secured the silver medal in the women’s 10 metre air rifle team event, with Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar and Vidarsa Vinod combining to deliver the country’s first medal of the Games. Sonam top-scored for India with 634.1, finishing fourth in the individual qualification, while Olympian Elavenil finished seventh with 633.5 points. China took the gold medal with a total score of 1904.2, while India held on to second spot by scoring 1897.
President Droupadi Murmu has congratulated the team on winning the Medal. In a social media post, she said that this commendable achievement has opened India’s medal account at the Games and brings immense pride to the nation.
