India Brings Regional Security Partners Together at 9th CSC Meeting

India on Wednesday hosted the 9th Deputy National Security Adviser (DNSA)-level meeting of the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC) virtually, with Bangladesh, Maldives, Mauritius, Sri Lanka and Seychelles participating in the discussions.

The meeting reviewed the decisions taken at the 7th National Security Adviser-level meeting of the CSC, held in New Delhi on November 20, 2025.

Member States also reviewed the Roadmap for Cooperation and Activities for 2025-2026 and noted the substantial progress made in organising training and capacity-building programmes across the CSC’s five pillars of cooperation.

During the meeting, the participating countries reiterated their commitment to strengthening cooperation on key security issues in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).

The Member States also reaffirmed their enduring partnership in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, highlighting the importance of coordinated efforts in responding to emergencies and disasters in the region.

The respective delegations were led by Brigadier General Muhammad Ali Haider Siddiqui, Director General, Prime Minister’s Office, Armed Forces Division, Bangladesh; Pavan Kapoor, Deputy National Security Adviser (Strategic Affairs), India; Major General Hamid Shafeeg (Retd.), Deputy National Security Adviser, Maldives; K. Jayeprokash, Acting Principal Coordinator, Security Matters, Prime Minister’s Office, Mauritius; Joel Morgan, National Security Advisor to the President of Seychelles; and P.D. Indika L. Wijegunawardana, Additional Secretary (Defence), Ministry of Defence, Sri Lanka.

The CSC Secretariat was represented by its Secretary General, Vice Admiral S.N. Ghormade (Retd.), who has assumed charge in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
