In Jammu & Kashmir, the Asia’s largest Tulip Garden in Srinagar was opened for visitors yesterday. Located on the foothills of the Zabarwan Range overlooking Dal Lake, the garden has been fully geared to welcome local, domestic and foreign tourists.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurated Tulip Show-2026 at the Tulip Garden, Srinagar and took a tour of the garden. This year, around 18 lakh tulips of over 70 varieties, along-with nearly one lakh other bulbous flowers including daffodils, hyacinths and narcissus, have been planted. This has added vibrant colours to the valley’s spring landscape. The Chief Minister appealed to tourists from across the country and around the world to visit Jammu & Kashmir during the spring season and experience its unmatched natural beauty.
Talking to Akashvani News Srinagar, Director Floriculture Kashmir, Mat Hoora Masoom talked about various features of the Tulip Show and innovative measures taken for attraction of the visitors:
Last year, over 08 Lakh 55 Thousand (8,55,125) local, domestic and foreign tourists visited the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden, surpassing all previous records. It is hoped that Tulip Show 2026 would give fillip to the tourism activities in Kashmir region as several off beat tourist destinations have been added to the kitty of tourist destinations in Kashmir region.
