After announcing a two-week ceasefire with Iran, US President Donald Trump said that it is a big day for World Peace. He said Tehran is ready to move towards reconstruction after weeks of heightened tensions.

In a statement, Trump announced a conditional two-week pause on planned military action, linked to Iran agreeing to reopen the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. He said the United States would assist in managing maritime traffic and ensure stability in the region during this period.

Mr Trump added that discussions have progressed significantly, with a 10-point proposal from Iran forming the basis for a potential long-term peace agreement. He expressed confidence that most major issues have been resolved.

Iran has signalled conditional acceptance of the pause, stating it will halt defensive operations if attacks cease. Reports also suggest that Israel has agreed to the temporary pause.

The development follows a sharp escalation earlier, which had raised global concerns over oil supply disruptions and regional stability.
