BRICS WAVES Bazaar, a premier international marketplace for the creative economy, bringing together over 500 delegates from BRICS member and partner countries, kicked off in Mumbai today. Maharashtra Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar, Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Chanchal Kumar, and others inaugurated the two-day programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
Speaking on the occasion, Maharashtra Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar stated that today, India is reclaiming its rightful position as Vishwaguru in the world, and the orange economy is one of the most important pillars in this journey. He hailed BRICS WAVES Bazaar as a platform where ideas transcend borders and are transformed into concrete partnerships. He noted that the boundaries between art and technology are dissolving, shaping the future of the global creative economy. He urged industry leaders to encourage young creators and provide them with a platform to showcase their talent.
Addressing the gathering, Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Chanchal Kumar opined that the creative space must move beyond conversations and become collaborations. He noted that BRICS WAVES Bazaar is witnessing participation from 20 countries, over 500 delegates, and more than 80 curated meetings over two days.
Joint Secretary (MER-III), Ministry of External Affairs Rajiv Bodwade; Joint Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Senthil Rajan; Festival Director of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) and renowned filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker; and Managing Director of the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) Shri Prakash Magdum, along with industry leaders, creators, collaborators, and various stakeholders, were present on the occasion.
The two-day event is scheduled to feature multiple panel discussions, presentations, visits, the Creators’ Hub, a B2B Zone, closed-door meetings, and other initiatives aimed at boosting the orange economy.
