In view of the 80th Independence Day celebrations, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory for commuters travelling around the Red Fort in the national capital. The advisory will remain in effect from 4 AM to 10 AM to ensure public safety and convenience.
The Traffic Police have advised commuters to plan their journeys in advance, allow extra travel time, avoid restricted roads, and use designated alternate routes by following Variable Message Sign (VMS) and the directions of Traffic Police personnel.
The Traffic Wing has also appealed to commuters to cooperate in ensuring safe and smooth traffic movement during the celebrations and to stay updated through official Traffic Police advisories for real-time information.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced extended metro services for the movement of special guests and the general public attending the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort. Commuters can deboard at Lal Quila, Jama Masjid, and Delhi Gate Metro stations to reach the Red Fort. The DMRC stated that the extended metro service will begin at 4 AM and will operate at an interval of 30 minutes until the regular scheduled timetable comes into effect.
The rail corporation also highlighted that it has provided one lakh 30 thousand special pre-vended QR tickets to the Ministry of Defence for the smooth movement of bona fide invitees and special guests attending the Independence Day celebrations. Special guests can avail themselves of these QR tickets along with their valid admit cards at designated metro stations.
