National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has underscored the need for closer cooperation among BIMSTEC member countries to address economic challenges, including disruptions in global supply chains.
Addressing the fifth meeting of the BIMSTEC National Security Chiefs in New Delhi, Mr Doval said disruptions in global supply chains have caused economic hardship for all member countries. He stressed the urgent need for BIMSTEC nations to collaborate, take decisive action for mutual benefit and find solutions through dialogue. Mr Doval said BIMSTEC brings together some of the most significant and dynamic regions of the Indian Ocean, with a combined GDP of nearly five trillion US dollars.
He also highlighted the importance of stronger cooperation among BIMSTEC member countries to address emerging security challenges and promote regional development. He said the member nations have made significant progress in combating terrorism, transnational organised crime, cyber threats and maritime security challenges. Mr Doval added that BIMSTEC countries are well positioned to tackle new and emerging threats together.
