Indian Armed Forces has issued a statement following the events of 07-08 May, outlining the sequence of actions and responses under Operation SINDOOR.
During a press briefing on 07 May, Indian officials described the country’s response as “focused, measured, and non-escalatory.” The government emphasized that military establishments in Pakistan had not been targeted and reaffirmed that any attack on Indian military assets would be met with an appropriate response.
According to a press release, on the night of 07-08 May, Pakistan launched an attempted strike on several Indian military targets located in Northern and Western India. The targeted locations included Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj. The Indian Armed Forces reported that these attacks, which involved drones and missiles, were successfully neutralised by the Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defence systems. Debris from the downed threats is being recovered, confirming the attempted Pakistani strikes.
In a measured retaliatory response early this morning, Indian forces carried out precision strikes on air defence radars and systems at multiple locations within Pakistan. According to reliable sources, an air defence installation in Lahore was among the targets successfully neutralised. Officials described the Indian response as being “in the same domain with the same intensity” as the initial Pakistani aggression.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has intensified unprovoked mortar and heavy artillery shelling across the Line of Control, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir. The affected sectors include Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri. This escalation has resulted in the tragic loss of sixteen innocent civilian lives, including three women and five children.
India was compelled to respond with retaliatory fire to silence Pakistani artillery and mortar positions and prevent further civilian casualties.
