The Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has said that several reforms have been implemented to modernise the forces and that such changes in a large organisation are challenging but essential. He said that India is moving ahead with a clear roadmap to build one of the world’s strongest armed forces by 2047.
Mr Singh was addressing the Shaurya Diwas programme at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium, expressing gratitude to the Indian Army for its unwavering service to the nation. Highlighting the global security environment, he stressed the need for modern, well-coordinated and technology-driven forces.
He stated that Operation Sindoor is still underway and emphasised that India’s efforts to secure peace will continue until the mindset of terrorism is completely eliminated. The Minister said that an Indian soldier is both a warrior and a thinker who dedicates his entire life to the service of the nation. For a soldier, duty is like a sacred offering, he noted, adding that the fruits of a soldier’s actions are not personal but benefit the entire country. He urged citizens, especially the youth, to learn the spirit of selfless service from the armed forces.
He remarked that preparedness for war is a daily discipline for the forces, where soldiers are trained in teamwork and collective responsibility. He said that the Indian Army stands as a shining example of unity in diversity, having played a significant role in strengthening the nation’s social fabric. The Defence Minister added that the deep trust between citizens and the Army is its greatest strength. The Minister said that caring for soldiers’ families is a national responsibility. Thousands of people attended the Shaurya Diwas event, which showcased the Army’s discipline, valour and rich traditions.
