Minister of Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh said that India is fast emerging as a preferred global destination for space sector engagement and investment.

Speaking at the India International Space Conclave in New Delhi, the Minister noted that the government’s reforms have created an enabling ecosystem where talent, technology and investment can converge to shape the future of India’s space economy.

He added that while India always had scientific capability, the turning point came when policy makers created an environment that encouraged innovation and broad-based participation.

Citing Gati Shakti for infrastructure planning, Svamitva for land mapping and satellite-enabled disaster management, Mr Singh stated that nearly 70 percent of India’s space applications now support ease of living. Talking to media, the Minister said that India has now started attracting engagement and investment in the space sector from across the world which will be an important contributor to the nation’s future economic growth.
