Two terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir were killed by the Indian Army on Wednesday.
The anti-infiltration operation, codenamed Operation ShivShakti, was launched based on precise intelligence inputs from the Indian Army’s intelligence units and the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP).
In a post on X, the Army’s Nagrota-headquartered White Knight Corps said: “In a successful anti-infiltration operation, alert troops of the #IndianArmy eliminated two terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control. Swift action and accurate firepower thwarted the nefarious designs. Three weapons have been recovered.”
This operation comes just days after a separate counter-terror mission neutralised three terrorists involved in the April 22 Pahalgam attack, which killed 26 civilians.
On Monday, in an intense firefight near Dachigam National Park in Srinagar, Indian security forces killed the trio in a joint operation codenamed Operation Mahadev, conducted by the Army, J&K Police, and CRPF.
The Army’s Chinar Corps confirmed the encounter on X, stating:
“Three hardcore Pakistani terrorists, involved in orchestrating the dastardly Pahalgam attack, were neutralised in a joint, coordinated and protracted operation. The terrorists have been identified as Suleman Shah alias Faisal Jaat, Hamza Afgani, and Jibran Bhai.”
On Tuesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah informed the Lok Sabha that those responsible for the April 22 massacre had been eliminated.
“Those who killed our citizens in the ghastly Pahalgam terror attack have been killed,” Shah told Parliament.
