Mr Modi noted that airports are not just basic facilities in any country, they give wings to progress. The Prime Minister added that due to the expansion of connectivity in the region, agricultural products of the Western UP will reach the global market in a much better way. Talking about the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) sector, Mr Modi noted that the government has also decided to make India self-reliant in this sector.
He said that due to the ongoing war in West Asia for the last one month, many countries are facing shortages of essential items such as food, petrol-diesel, gas, and fertilizers. He noted that every country is making efforts to deal with this crisis. The Prime Minister emphasised that India is confronting this crisis with full strength, relying on the strength of its citizens. He said that India imports large quantities of crude oil and gas from the war-affected region, and the government is taking every possible step to ensure that the burden of this crisis does not fall on ordinary families and farmers. He added that even during this time of crisis, India has continued to maintain its rapid pace of development.
Noida International Airport is among the largest greenfield airport projects in the country. Phase I of Noida International Airport has been developed at a total investment of around 11 thousand 200 crore under a Public-Private Partnership model. The airport will initially have a passenger handling capacity of 12 million passengers per annum with scalability up to 70 million passengers per annum upon full development.
