Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 21st installment of the PM-KISAN scheme worth 18 thousand crore rupees in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu to support nine crore farmers across the country. The Prime Minister inaugurated the South India Natural Farming Summit 2025 at the CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex in Coimbatore today.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Modi said, the agriculture sector has witnessed transformative reforms in the past 11 years. He said, the country is becoming a global hub in natural farming and its biodiversity is taking a new shape. Mr. said, agricultural exports have doubled, and the government has taken several steps to modernise the agriculture practices. He said, assistance of more than 10 lakh crore rupees has been provided to farmers through Kisan Credit Cards. He said, the reduction of GST on bio-fertilisers has also helped farmers significantly.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the youth of the country are now viewing agriculture as a modern and scalable opportunity. He stressed that collected efforts are required to create a futuristic agriculture system for a developed India. The Prime Minister gave a clarion call to the farmers to adopt Natural farming practice in one acre land in one season to witness the amazing results.
Speaking at the event, Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr. L Murugan said, 22 lakh farmers of Tamil Nadu have benefited from PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.
During the event, the Prime Minister also interacted with the farmers. He also felicitated five distinguished natural farming specialists. The exhibition showcased organic produce, natural farming innovations, and best practices. The Prime Minister visited several stalls set up by farmers from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
