PM Modi says, passage of Women’s Reservation Bill indicates strong and decisive government

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam or Women’s Reservation Bill is no ordinary law but announcement of new India’s new democratic commitment.  Addressing the Nari Shakti Vandan-Abhinandan Karyakram at BJP Headquarters in New Delhi today, Mr Modi congratulated every woman of the country on passage of the bill in the Parliament. The Prime Minister said that this decision will be celebrated and remembered by the generations to come. He also thanked both the houses, all political parties and MPs for passing this historic bill with full enthusiasm. The Prime Minsiter stated that no sincere efforts were made earlier to pass this bill but everyone kept on paying lip service to it. He said, passage of this bill is an indication that a strong, decisive and a government with full majority is required to take the country forward.

Mr Modi also highlighted that to pass this bill the government had to tackle decades-old obstacles but with pure intentions and transparency positive results can be ensured.

Highlighting the government’s various initiatives in women empowerment, the Prime Minister said that through Matru Vandana Yojana,  Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers received cash incentive directly in the bank accounts. He said that government also put special focus to control maternal mortality rate. Mr Modi also underlined the importance of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme in preventing Female Infanticide and improving the country’s sex ratio.

Speaking on the occasion, BJP national president JP Nadda said that these decisions, focused on empowering women, will lead to a change in the landscape and destiny of India. Parliament passed the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Eighth Amendment) Bill, 2023 which seeks to reserve one-third of the total number of seats for women in Lok Sabha, State Legislative Assemblies and Delhi Assembly.
