Punjab government has withdrawn its land pooling policy, today, through which the state’s AAP government intended to acquire over 65,000 acres. Principal Secretary, Department of Housing & Urban Development, Punjab declared that the government hereby withdraws the Land Pooling Policy of May, 2025 and its subsequent amendments. Consequently, all actions taken thereunder shall be reversed henceforth.
Responding on a writ petiton, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had stayed the policy, last week, for bringing it without undertaking any environmental or social impact assessment.
All the major political parties inclduing BJP, Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) are claiming their own and farmers’ victory.
