Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri today said that Qatar has reaffirmed its commitment to remain a reliable energy supplier to India. Mr Puri said this after holding discussions with the Qatar Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President and CEO of Qatar Energy, Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, in Doha. In a social media post, Mr Puri said that during the meeting, both sides discussed all aspects of the strategic relations between the two countries, including high-level engagements, trade, investment, energy, culture and people-to-people relations. He said that the two sides also expressed hope for an early return of peace and stability in the West Asia region. He noted that both India and Qatar welcomed the two-week ceasefire agreed between the US and Iran. India and Qatar highlighted the importance of an early end to disruption in global energy supplies and restoration of normalcy. Mr Puri said that both sides further emphasized the need for unimpeded freedom of navigation and the global flow of commerce to maintain global supply chains.
