The Supreme Court directed the Centre and the National Testing Agency (NTA) to file detailed affidavits on the progress made in implementing reforms following the NEET-UG paper leak.

A bench of Justice P. S. Narasimha and Justice Alok Aradhe, while hearing the matter, said the affidavits must explain the steps taken to institutionalise the reforms instead of relying on ad hoc measures. The bench said it would closely monitor the issue and review the progress regularly. The apex court also asked the Centre about the steps being taken to shift completely to an online mode.

Appearing for the Centre, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said the government is going “10 extra miles” to address the concerns of students. He also sought more time to present a comprehensive view before the court. The matter has been listed for hearing on 27 July.
