Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defence (MND) reported that five Chinese military aircraft, 14 Chinese navy ships, and one official vessel were detected operating near Taiwan by 3:30 AM Indian time today. One aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait and entered Taiwan’s southwestern Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ). In response, Taiwan sent its aircraft, ships, and missile systems to monitor the situation.
Taiwan’s MND said on social media: “We have monitored and responded accordingly. This incident follows a recent rise in Chinese military movements around Taiwan, raising concerns about regional stability. China claims Taiwan as its territory, though Taiwan has been self-ruled since 1949.

Meanwhile, Taiwan’s ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is taking new steps to prevent Chinese spying. Party members must now report and get approval before visiting China, Hong Kong, or Macau, and submit a follow-up report after their trips.

President Lai Ching-te said any betrayal of party values for personal gain will face strict punishment. He also announced better training for members on national security and tighter controls over parliamentary and council aides.
