Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth emphasised the importance of preserving India’s military heritage while strengthening self-reliance and technological advancement in the defence sector.
The Minister made these remarks while addressing the inaugural session of the third Indian Military Heritage Festival at the United Service Institution of India in New Delhi.
Mr Seth hailed the Indian Army for its service, discipline, and commitment to national security and commended its leadership in operations such as Operation Sindoor. The Minister highlighted that indigenisation, innovation, and the adoption of emerging technologies remain central to India’s defence preparedness.
Stressing the importance of building a resilient domestic ecosystem, Mr Seth noted that the growing participation of industry and youth reflects the country’s collective resolve to achieve long-term strategic capability and expand global defence engagement.
He also urged citizens to update their social media profile pictures to Birsa Munda on the eve of his birth anniversary, recalling the contributions of national leaders, including Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, in shaping India’s path to unity and freedom.
During the event, the Minister released key publications, including Shukra Niti: Statecraft and Warfare, Honours and Awards of the Indian Armed Forces, and a volume on 75 years of India’s peacekeeping contributions.
The two-day festival features panel discussions, exhibitions, and interactions aimed at deepening public awareness of the country’s military history and linking heritage with contemporary national security priorities.
