Prime Minister Narendra Modi today attended the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit in Tokyo with his Japanese counterpart, Shigeru Ishiba in Tokyo.
During the summit, the two leaders reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral ties and discussed ways to take forward the next phase of the Special Strategic and Global Partnership. Addressing the joint press meet, Prime Minister Modi said their discussions today were productive and purposeful. He said they agreed that the India-Japan partnership is essential for world peace and stability.
He remarked that strong democracies are natural partners in shaping a better world. Mr Modi informed that a roadmap has been prepared for the next decade. He added that investment, innovation, economic security, environment, technology, health, mobility, people-to-people exchanges and state-prefecture partnership are at the centre of this vision. He also said that the India-Japan green partnership is as strong as the economic partnership. He stated that Japanese technology and Indian talent are a winning combination.
In his statement, the Japanese Prime Minister said India is bringing transformation to the whole world through innovations. He said having a complementary and mutual relationship is beneficial for both India and Japan.
He noted that India and Japan’s defence cooperation has strengthened. He said India has a vast market with great potential. India and Japan also exchanged a number of agreements on the occasion.
Earlier, Mr Modi met with Speaker Fukushiro Nukaga and group of Members of Parliament from Japan. In a social media post, Mr Modi said they discussed the strong and friendly relations between India and Japan.
Their talks focused on parliamentary exchanges, human resource development, cultural exchanges and cooperation across key sectors, including the economy, health, mobility partnership, AI, science, technology and more.
Former Japanese Prime Ministers Yoshihide Suga and Fumio Kishida also called on Prime Minister Modi.
