The UN Security Council condemned Wednesday’s school bus attack in Pakistan’s Balochistan province on Thursday.

In a press statement, the council members “condemned in the strongest terms the heinous and cowardly terrorist attack” in Khuzdar, Balochistan province.

This reprehensible act of terrorism resulted in the grievous loss of at least six Pakistani nationals, including four schoolchildren, along with 53 injured, 39 of them children, said the statement.

The council members expressed their deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and to the government and people of Pakistan. They underlined the need to hold perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of these acts of terrorism accountable and bring them to justice.

The council members reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security.
