Home Minister Amit Shah has reached Jalandhar. He will be addressing an anti-drug rally in a short while from now. Soon after landing, he paid obeisance at the historic 200-year-old Tripurmalini shrine within the compound of Shri Devi Talab Mandir.
The Home Minister is here to participate in the ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatras’, which will culminate at Jalandhar after covering a distance of 4,000 kilometres in all 117 assembly constituencies in 13 days in four phases. The yatras were launched by BJP President Nitin Nabin on September 18th from Pathankot with an aim of transforming the fight against drugs in Punjab into a people’s movement.
These yatras focused on three major challenges Punjab is currently facing, including rising drug abuse, deteriorating law and order and corruption at all levels of governance. In view of his visit, Jalandhar district has been declared a ‘ no-fly zone’ till this evening.
