NITI Aayog’s Frontier Tech Hub has released a Data Centre Evaluation Framework to help states plan for the sustainable growth of data centers in the country.  The initiative seeks to strengthen India’s data centre ecosystem and support the country’s growing requirements for artificial intelligence, computing and digital infrastructure
The framework was released yesterday in New Delhi to help state governments to assess investment proposals systematically, identify infrastructure requirements and ensure sustainable development of data centre projects. Speaking on the occasion, NITI Aayog CEO Anurag Jain highlighted the importance of data centres and computing infrastructure in India’s future growth. He said that this is a huge opportunity for the country to grow.
During the event, Member, NITI Aayog, Prof Abhay Karandikar also said that the Data Centre Evaluation Framework explains the issues on which state governments should evaluate project proposals for setting up data centres and assess them systematically. He said that, by using this report, state governments will be able to properly and systematically evaluate investment proposals.
Developed in consultation with the Ministry of Power and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the framework is designed as a practical decision support tool that states can adapt to their priorities without creating an additional layer of regulation. It aims to make project implementation faster and more predictable while maximizing long-term economic benefits.
