Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh today emphasized the need to strengthen local biotechnology ecosystems by leveraging regional strengths with active involvement of the States. Chairing the review meeting of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) in New Delhi, he said that India’s biotechnology sector has evolved into a key pillar of national development, contributing significantly to the nation’s economy. Dr Singh also highlighted the importance of regional engagement in driving the next phase of India’s bio-innovation movement. He further stated that the DBT is mapping states based on their biotech potential and is collaborating with them to set up Bio E3 Cells to boost entrepreneurship, education, and empowerment in biotechnology. During the meeting, Dr Singh also felicitated DBT Joint Secretary Ekta Vishnoi for Winning Silver at World Powerlifting Championship.
The meeting concluded with a call to accelerate project implementation and strengthen inter-governmental collaboration to make India a global hub for biotechnology-driven innovation and sustainable growth.
