Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said the government is identifying professions that are less vulnerable to artificial intelligence, focusing on sectors where AI can improve efficiency without replacing human workers.
Addressing Indian researchers and students in Germany, Mr Goyal said India could strengthen its global position in fields such as handicrafts, handlooms, culinary arts and tourism, where traditional skills and human creativity remain important. He also urged researchers and students to outline the support they would need to work in India, stressing that a strong research ecosystem and an environment conducive to innovation are essential to attract skilled professionals.
During his visit, Mr Goyal met Levin Holle, Economic and Financial Policy Adviser to the German Federal Chancellor and Germany’s G7 and G20 Sherpa. He also held discussions on strengthening industrial cooperation between India and Germany and the potential of the proposed India-European Union Free Trade Agreement to boost bilateral trade and investment.
