Moscow and Kyiv have agreed to a temporary ceasefire in the Russian-occupied Ukrainian town of Oleshky to facilitate humanitarian aid deliveries and the evacuation of civilians. The ceasefire is scheduled to begin on Tuesday. The agreement was reached with the involvement of US First Lady Melania Trump. It comes amid renewed efforts by Washington to facilitate negotiations aimed at ending the war.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said yesterday that negotiators from Ukraine, Russia and the United States had agreed to hold technical-level talks in Abu Dhabi in the first half of November. A US official later indicated that the next meeting could take place in the coming weeks in Abu Dhabi or Switzerland. President Zelenskyy expressed hope that the discussions will pave the way for a meeting between the leaders of the three countries.
